I remember scouring the Sears catalog as a little girl, pretending to pick out items for my baby’s nursery. What a joy to actually do it. Designing this nursery was truly a dream come true. Here’s the final product. I think he likes it. Learn more about this nursery at Apartment Therapy or Project Nursery.
The paint colors are Benjamin Moore’s Grey Owl and Dove White.
The bed skirt was made with fabric from Carousel Designs. The folks at Carousel Designs really have their finger on the pulse of what the modern mama likes. My mom and I sewed many pieces in the room, including the bedskirt.
I found the Melissa & Doug Giraffe at Goodnite Rooms, but he’s also available on Amazon. Behold, the keeper of the nursery.
My mother-in-law made the adorable quilt. What a special keepsake for H.
My husband created the “H” art. It’s comprised of objects that start with H. It was printed on canvas by CanvasPop.
I found the elephant puppet at The Teachers’ Lounge, but you can get the Folkmanis Elephant Plush Hand Puppet online, bundled with some other great products.
The custom cornice was made by Sunshine Drapery.
The floor lamp is from Target. The lovely bookrack is from Pottery Barn Kids. I’m told that kids are more encouraged to read when the books face out. H already loves looking at the covers.
I snagged the footstool at Buy Buy Baby.
Believe it or not, that’s same rocker I was rocked in as a baby.
My late grandad refinished the chairs and antique dresser. The kids’ table is from Babies R Us. It was the floor model, so I was able to talk down the price significantly. Who knew being a mom would bring out my inner haggler?
Fresh Art Photography did our maternity shots. What a fun experience.
The white curtains are from Bed, Bath, and Beyond.
We found the ClosetMaid storage cubes at Lowe’s.
The crib and 5-drawer chest are part of Bonavita’s Peyton Collection.
I’m thrilled with their quality.
I must say I love this space. The bold grey stripes were definitely a risk. I got cold feet when it was time to put paint to wall, but I reminded myself that you only live once: out with the beige and in with the stripes. A nod goes to my mom, with whom I collaborated on parts of the room. I look forward to watching H continue to grow and learn in the space – bringing it to life, getting it dirty, and making it his own.

Love the blog Caroline! My favorite thing in this nursery is the custom H your husband made – so smart and timeless.
Thanks Anna! I’m fortunate to have a hubs who can deck our walls in art.
The stripes are such a cute addition. They add a lot of fun to the room, without making it look cluttered or crazy!
Thank you! I feel like I avoided a prison-striped-look.
Yes, love the “H” art. Does he sell other letters?
Thanks Rachel! He says, “Not yet.” I’ll definitely post if he decides to make a hobby out of it and create more.
Hi! I love the bedding! Great colors! Did you order the fabric for the bed skirt and sew it yourself or did you custom make it through the Carousel website?
